Release 24.3 is Out

The year is almost over and 24.3 is finished and polished. We have plenty of new features and improvements to show and tell. Let’s take a look at our latest highlights. A real treat for MediaPortal and VidiEditor users.

VidiEditor & VidiFlow - Keeping Tabs on Workflows

Sometimes, being an editor is not just about the editing. With VidiEditor's new VidiFlow integration, users are able take a peek, or more, of what's going under the hood. The VidiFlow Monitor can now be seen in VidiEditor's UI, neatly tucked away so it doesn't eat up your workspace. Users can pop it open to view which processes are being run and their state, and are just as comfortably able to jump to the item in MediaPortal or the workflow itself and view the steps at a more granular level and in real-time. For more details, see Monitoring Area.

VidiEditor - List as a Rough Cut Import

Timecode-based metadata can now be used not only for navigating the Source Player, it is now possible to drag event lists to the timeline which will be imported as a rough cut list In this manner each event gets imported to timeline as a segment. This is particularly advantageous if event list data is available such as auto highlight detection or logging information. Being able to get your timeline going with material neatly segmented based on relevant metadata can jump start your project, saving you valuable time. Instead of having to tediously do this segment per segment, VidiEditor´s new feature lets you optimize the use of your event lists, allowing you to drag and drop these straight to your timeline. For more details, see Event List View.

VidiEditor, MediaPortal, and 3rd Party -Drag and Drop

VidiEditor now supports drag-and-drop interactions from 3rd parties. This allows one to complete handover scenarios between a web page and VidiEditor more conveniently. This is especially useful to import items or collections used in one frontend into VidiEditor for further usage. For example, this can be used to drag items from MediaPortal to a VidiEditor bin, timeline and Source Player. For implementation in other frontends then MediaPortal, the Operation Guide provides a guideline on how to implement such functionalities. For more details, see Drag and Drop Interactions.

MediaPortal - Sequence Synch via MP Premiere Panel

Via the Adobe Premiere Panel in MediaPortal, MediaPortal is now able to read timeline information from the active Premiere project and transform it into a Vidispine timeline. This allows for Renderless Playback as well as reimports into VidiEditor -significantly enhancing and speeding up editing workflows.
For more details, see MediaPortal Release Notes.

MediaPortal Source Sequence Display

MediaPortal can now utilize source sequence information from Adobe Premiere and VidiEditor projects, to have published items include sequence information in the rendered timeline, visual representation of the timeline alongside the player, and handling metadata with configurable coding to make it easier to identify. For more details, see Preview Panel.

MediaPortal - Camera Card Upload

MediaPortal 24.3 introduces a web-based interface for uploading clips directly from camera cards, starting with support for Sony SxS and XDCam formats. This allows MediaPortal to automatically identify technical parameters during upload and uses a chunked upload process for better handling of large files. Users can select specific clips for ingest, and the system generates an item to represent the Card in the search. Future updates will include more format support and local uploads via VSA. For more details, see Camera Card Ingest via Web Upload.
